Story Telling session with family keepsake film

Come join me as I capture Chelsea’s Story Telling Session

During my college years, as part of my photography program, students also took courses in videography involving both editing and filming. Initially, my passion lay firmly in photography. However, after the first year of my program, I discovered a newfound appreciation for film, and realizing its potential as a captivating storytelling medium—a tool I would later use in my journey with families.

As a photographer, I've always grasped the significance of freezing moments in time, preserving memories for years and generations to come. What if I could offer my clients something beyond just photographs? What if I could encapsulate those fleeting movements between stills, those interactions that breathe life into family narratives?

My journey with Chelsea and her family started long before the arrival of their daughter. Over the years, their home has transformed into a gallery framed with snapshots of their growing family—from the first moments shared by just the two of them to the joyous addition of their daughter and her growth thereafter. It was a quick “Yes” from Chelsea when I asked her if she’d like to be part of creating something more and capture her family again but this time in video.

Before the scheduled shoot, we engaged in discussions to establish the key elements she wished to capture. While the spotlight would be on their family bond, Chelsea also wanted to capture those intimate mother-daughter moments—a sentiment that resonated deeply with me, as a mother myself. Often, we find ourselves behind the lens, documenting our children's milestones and interactions with others, yet not often are they captured for us alongside with them.

When the session day arrived, we started on our journey of filming their moments together. During the day those moments of laughter, tenderness, and connection were all captured which were created into a family video Chelsea will have for years to come.
